“The two most important days in your life are:
the day you are born ...
the day you figure out why.”
- Mark Twain
From his early days listening to records played by family and friends on the Lower East Side of New York City in the 1980s to his countless nights rocking venues throughout the US and abroad during the 90s and 2000s, DJ E.M. has always felt the music calling him to move, share and one day...create.
Over the years he’s enjoyed and mixed countless genres including House, Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton, Freestyle, Pop and Old School Classics, but it wasn’t until he experienced the PLUR-driven EDM scene in 2013 that DJ E.M. finally felt it was time for him to make his own music. He had been djing the “Friday Night House Party” and Saturday Night Dance Party” for Party 100.9FM in Gainesville Florida for over a year, but had yet to experience the music live and once he attended his first event, Electric Zoo in NYC, an undeniable fire was ignited.
With the help of Brooklyn-based engineer and musician Dan Freeman, E.M. quickly learned how to turn his ideas and inspirations into full tracks, pulling from all his influences to develop a fusion he calls Energy Music. E.M. believes that pure positive energy is what really moves people...it’s that indescribable feeling that comes over you when you hear a great song and can’t help but squint your eyes and nod your head...and just as he brings that essence to every gig he deejays, he also ensures it’s in every song he produces as well.
His first EP, titled "I’m Energy Music", was released in April 2015 on Electrified Mindz. It featured the smooth tech-house grooves “Get Up” and “The Conga Strut”. His hip-hop inspired “Feelin Old School” was later released on the “Back 2 Basics” compilation and his twerk inspired “Go Low”, which was released on the “Independance” compilation, climbed the Beatport hip-hop charts to number 53 in just 3 weeks!
DJ E.M. has since produced 8 more tracks released in 2015 & 2016, along with several in 2017 & continues to produce tracks. Fueled by the memory of his mother Elizabeth Muniz (the source of his DJ name) and his gratitude to GOD for giving him many chances to live out his dreams in spite of some missteps in his youth, DJ E.M. continues to spread good vibes with everything he does and is poised to move crowds for many years to come!
